The Human Capital Services (HCS) Unit at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted yet another successful painting session on Friday, 7 July 2023 at Steve Biko campus, as a build up to the Living Values Framework Official Launch. The session began outside the HCS building in Steve Biko campus where the HCS team, under the leadership of Mr Mxolisi Msomi, Senior Director: HCS were beautifying the S Block building as well as the area outside HCS Offices.
The Living Values Framework Official Launch will take place at DUT Ritson and Indumiso campuses from 18-21 July 2023. The Living Values Framework is a collaborative effort between DUT, community leaders, students and individuals committed to promoting and embedding the DUT Values and Principles into one’s daily lives. By adopting this Framework, DUT aims to create a culture that encourages positive behaviour.
Dr Vuyo Mthethwa, DUT’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor: People and Operations was part of the team painting the identified areas. She expressed the significance of culture change at DUT where all at the university must subscribe and demonstrate their commitment to the university values and principles. Painting around the campus was to increase the visibility and continual reminder of our purpose as a DUT people. “Everyone who walks on campus, must be able to feel, see and demonstrate that DUT is a changed university. Today marks a milestone towards our official launch from the 18th to the 21st July 2023” she said.
The Director of Organisational Development and Talent Management , Mr Avhatakali Nenungwi, who is the project lead for the implementation of the LV Framework, expressed gratitude to everyone that participated in the painting session.
“This is an important day in our DUT calendar. We are creating the excitement and momentum, building to the launch.”
He described the upcoming Living Values Framework Launch as one that involved a collaborative effort between students, staff and other stakeholders.
“We will have a series of exciting and enjoyable activities that relate to the values that we are espoused to, as the DUT community. We will coordinate all the work that we do to create what we call ‘The DUT Way’ which is a distinct way of being,” added Nenungwi.
