THE COUNTDOWN TO THE LAUNCH OF THE DUT BUSINESS SCHOOL HAS BEGUN

The Durban University of Technology (DUT), in alignment with its ENVISION2030 strategy which is to see its people being “entrepreneurial and innovative” will be launching the DUT Business School, under the ambit of the Faculty of Management Sciences, at Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel on Wednesday, 24 August 2022.

The DUT Business School, which commenced operating in the first semester of 2021, offers a variety of Postgraduate Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and various Higher Certificates. Its flagship programme, the Master in Business Administration (MBA), commenced last year, with its first group. Once again this year, the DUT Business School welcomed its second group into the MBA programme. Its curriculum is focused on applied business which will enable leaders to solve real-life problems that contribute to socio-economic transformation.

Recently, the DUT Business School witnessed its first cohort of graduates obtaining their qualifications during the DUT Autumn Graduation season. The DUT Business School offers a variety of academic programmes, executive education courses and short learning programmes during the year. Its programmes are accredited by the Council for Higher Education (CHE), registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and approved by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The DUT Business School is also a member of the South African Business Schools Association (SABSA) and the Association of African Business Schools (AABS).

Providing more insight, the DUT Business School Project Leader, Professor Veena Rawjee said: “The DUT Business School has an advisory board that brings together members of society to represent among others, corporate, academia and government, both nationally and internationally. The board members are well-credentialed leaders in their respective professions and representatives of various sectors. They are at the cutting edge of their profession – deeply aware of what employers’ expectations are of a business school graduate and attributes in both hard and soft skills and applied research.”

At the launch, Professor Fulufhelo Netswera, the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences will present the welcome and the overview of the DUT Business School.
