The DUT CI was awarded as “The Global Advanced CI in 2017”

From December 12th to 13th, the two-day 12th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Xi’an. Liu Yandong.

Vice Premier of the State Council and Chair of the Council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, attended and addressed the conference. Nearly 2,500 people, including the presidents of different universities and representatives of Confucius Institutes from over 140 countries and regions, attended the conference.

Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of the State Council and Chair of the Council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters made a keynote speech. The conference selected 25 Advanced Confucius Institutes and five Advanced Confucius Classes from 525 Confucius Institutes and 1113 Confucius classes in Primary and Secondary schools. The Confucius Institute of FAFU at DUT stood out and was awarded as the “Global Advanced Confucius Institute” for the first time. Vice Premier Liu Yandong personally delivered the award to the Confucius Institute of FAFU at DUT, and Professor Nomthandazo Gwele, Vice President of DUT, received the award on behalf of the Confucius Institute. This award is another laurel after the “Advanced Individual of Confucius Institute” received by Professor Ahmed Bawa, former Vice-President of DUT, and Dr Fu Chaobo, former Director of Confucius Institute at Durban.

Prof Gwele, made a wonderful speech titled: Establishing a better public image for the Confucius Institute at the conference. Professor Gwele, Professor Sibusiso Moyo, Chen Youyang, Vice Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Professor Graham Stewart, Foreign Director of Confucius Institute at DUT, and Wu Lin, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute, attended the Confucius Institute Conference.
