The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Snenhlanhla Londiwe Thusi from Bhamshela in Kwamnyela graduated with Cum Laude for her Advanced Diploma in Business and Information Management. The graduation took place at the DUT 2023 Autumn Graduation ceremony that was held at the Olive Convention Centre, 24 May 2023 at 09H00.
The 25-year-old enrolled for her Higher Certificate in Dental Assisting at DUT in 2017, which she graduated Cum Laude. After she completed her Higher Certificate, she took a gap year because she did not have any funding to pay for her registration. She then came back in 2019 to enrol for her National Diploma in Business and Information Management.
Thusi has had a difficult journey as a student, she struggled to register for her studies since she did not have any sponsor and her family were not able to help her with registration fees. Fortunately, in 2020 and 2021 she was appointed to be a tutor for DUT students teaching them Information Management and Technology and Project Management modules.
She unfortunately lost her mother along her journey but that did not stop Thusi from achieving her goals. It motivated her to work hard on her studies. Her family were her biggest supporters throughout her journey at DUT, especially her late grandmothers MaJosaka and MaMzobe. Furthermore, she added that her father is her motivation since he is the only parent alive and taking care of her and her six siblings.
Mzobe is furthering her studies in her Postgraduate in Business and Information Management and she wants to further her studies by enrolling for her Master’s degree after she completes her Postgraduate Diploma studies.
“I am so happy and proud of myself for graduating with Cum Laude because it takes a lot of sweat and some sleepless nights. I am willing to further my studies and my goal is to get a job and help people in need because I love helping people,” said Thusi.
“Focusing on my studies and working hard was my number one priority and I urge students to work hard on their studies to achieve their goal,” she advised.
