Zungu Makes His Community Proud On Achieving His Diploma In PR

Being the first one to study at University level from his community and making his family proud, has inspired the jubilant Lindani JD Zungu to achieve his National Diploma in Public Relations at the DUT graduation session which took place at the FJ Sithole Hall, Indumiso Campus, Imbali on 29 April 2019 at 10am.

“I am the first one to study at University level in my community therefore I have made my family very proud,” he said excitedly.

Besides being a student at DUT, Zungu is also the deputy president of the Student Representative Council (SRC), making sure that all the departments and SRC offices are functioning efficiently. “I ensure that all students are served with integrity. I am a custodian and the head of delegation in the Midlands campus, so I always try to tackle the challenges we as students are facing,” he said.

Zungu, who is currently doing his BTech in Public Relations, also added that he feels honoured to be part of the team which graduated this year (2019), as it was great studying at DUT and thoroughly enjoyable. He also said he is the fourth child in his family, raised by his mom, and is greatly inspired by people who were raised by single parents, like him.

When asked what he loves doing in his spare time, Zungu professed his love for soccer and Politics. “I grew up playing soccer therefore I enjoy the beautiful game. I also like Politics which is a second sport to me. I enjoy assisting students or anyone in my society because I believe that we need equality regardless of age, class or gender,” he stressed.

His advice to fellow students who wish to be part of the SRC, is to be prepared for the pressure and the hard work it entails. “I think it is better to be in the SRC at BTech level or above because the pressure is sometimes difficult. As the SRC we are doing a double job of studying and serving the students needs, which can become difficult to juggle at times,” he said.

However, he says his journey at DUT has been amazing and his advice to students is to stay on the path of learning.
