DUT Graduation Ceremonies Go ‘Live’

DUT Graduation Ceremonies Go ‘Live’

The Durban University of Technology Midlands graduation ceremonies went live for the very first time this autumn. The live streaming was initiated by the University’s department of Audio Visual.

“It is an exciting era for DUT as it will now be ‘live’ for the general public to be able to watch the ceremonies without attending and by just going onto the link provided by DUT. This will also be done for the Durban graduation ceremonies as wells as part of our roll-out plan,” said Nelson Munsamy, Manager at the department of Audio visual services.

The live streaming saw 726 students obtain their Bachelor of Technology Degrees and 244 receive their National Diplomas in the Faculty of Management Sciences at 10 am and 1 pm respectively.

Students and parents, as well as invited guests, converged at the FJ Sithole Hall, Indumiso Campus. The hall was filled with guests dressed in all stylish outfits but traditional attires were the order of the day at both sessions.

For 26-year-old Mbambo Nomzuzo from Swaziland, he reiterated how proud he was of his heritage and chose to dress traditionally in his leopard skin, braided necklace and brightly coloured clothing. “I am very excited to have graduated with a National Diploma in Human Resources Management, and what better way to show my heritage than the day of my graduation,” he said proudly.

DUT graduation ceremonies will continue in Durban from Monday, 08 May to Friday, 12 May 2017.
