Abstract:
Urban Creativity and Placemaking – An introduction to the Inanda Urban Retreat project, a project to build an artists retreat in Inanda. The project will utilize green building techniques, community participation and knowledge sharing to create a space for creativity, cultural exchange and community.

Bio:
Tiny Mungwe is an film producer, writer and festival organizer. She studied film and television production at Movietech Film and Video College as well as AFDA School of Motion Picture. She wrote, produced and directed Akekho uGogo a 48 minute documentary about urban youth culture which screened at several festivals including the Durban International Film Festival, Apollo Film Festival and DOKANEMA Festival. Her short film script Evelyn and Tapiwa (later changed to Evelyn) was selected the for NFVF Women Filmmaker Project and she was a writer on the etv series Matatiele, produced and directed by award winning director Rolie Nikiwe and Branded Soul Productions.
In addition, she works as a project manager at the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN) where she organizes four international cultural festivals including Time of the Writer, the Durban International Film Festival, the Jomba! Contemporary Dance Festival and Poetry Africa. She works on the Industry programme of the film festival overseeing the programme of the Durban FilmMart (a co-production market of the festival) and Talents Durban (a career development programme for emerging African filmmakers).
