Notice to students

Government has advised that those students who had applied for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and who had qualified at the time for assistance but did not receive funding in 2013, 2014 and in 2015, have all been unblocked.

How the NSFAS system works:
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme conducts a means test for all of its applicants, in order to determine their financial need. The means test looks at the submitted family income, the student’s financial need and the academic results – in order to process the application and to identify if the student qualifies or not. Once that has been processed, NSFAS then decides whether to approve the funding request or to decline the application. Sometimes, students get partially funded by NSFAS whilst others receive full funding. The means test will also reveal the expected family contribution. NSFAS does not fund Btech studies. Qualifying NSFAS applicants who had historic debt from 2013, 2014 or 2015, have been unblocked and can proceed to register.
