A Universities SA appeal to corporates and private donors to continue to support students through bursaries and scholarships.

We share with you a media statement we just issued, informed by a deeply concerning decline in 2018, in corporates’ and individual donors’ support to university students through bursaries and scholarships.

Universities SA believes there is a link between this decline and the rollout of “free” higher education.

In the attached statement, USAf clarifies the facts concerning the new DHET bursaries; current beneficiaries and the implications on the majority of needy students already in the system. USAf therefore appeals to corporates and private donors to continue supporting those not yet benefitting from the new dispensation.
