Bio: I am a nGap lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Ms. Nhlanhla P. Nkosi is a sustainable development researcher and practitioner with over six years of experience covering the research and implementation of waste-to-energy projects. Her area of expertise is waste-to-energy, pyrolysis, material and energy recovery, thermodynamics, modelling, and process simulations, amongst others. She has written and co-authored 23 research papers to date on the use of different alternative energy sources from waste materials. She has had industrial engagements with Anglo-Gold Ashanti and The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA), where she worked as a process engineer. She has led projects for the Tafara Foundation in partnership with the Nedbank Foundation, Anglo American, and the Newly Group. Ms. Nkosi is a major advocate of knowledge sharing, and as such, she has been exposed to teaching and learning practices for over ten years. She currently holds a Master’s Degree (M-Tech) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg (UJ). She is pursuing her Ph.D. qualification in life cycle assessment studies to determine the least environmentally impactful, technologically viable, and socially acceptable waste tyre management strategies in South Africa. She is a member of The South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (SAIChE).
