Information gained at Open Week Useful for High School Learners

Nomkhuleko Thutshini and Sanele Xaba from the Communications Department attended day1 and 2 of the 2019 DUT Open Week. At the Open week, they spoke to some pupils from the different schools that were invited to attend. Day1 and 2 saw 95 Schools attend this year’s Open week. This is what the learners had to say about DUT programmes and Open Week.

NomfundoNomfundo Mthembu, Nsikayethu Secondary School(Grade12)

“We came here in DUT to learn about our career choices, since I am in Grade 12 and wanted to find out more about what I want to do after matric. What I learned is that as a student I should know what I want in life. DUT is my first choice because it has what I want to study in 2020.”

ZamaZama Buthelezi, Futura High School (upgrading)

“I came here today with other students to learn more about what DUT has to offer. We learnt so much more about physical studies. I am aiming to achieve better marks. I hope that one day I will become a student here. People from this University are very kind and the requirement points are not unreachable, so I pray that the institution will accept me when I apply for study space.”

JashYash Bridgenath CrossMoor Secondary School (Grade 12)

“Coming to DUT was good because I have learnt more about what I want to do in the near future. I have learnt about different programmes offered at DUT. DUT is my first choice because I have heard a lot about it, I have heard about Sport management which is something I want to do. I hope everything goes well.”

Terraj NaidooTerashi Naidu Welbedacht Secondary School (Grade 10)

“I learnt so many things that I never knew. My intention was to do Engineering but now I am lost because there are so many things to do in DUT. At least I still have more time to explore everything before I make my decision but DUT is my first choice.”

Sphamandla MadikizelaSphamandla Madikizela, Sihle High School (Grade 12)

“I came here to look for information that might prepare me for 2020 since this is my last year in high school. The information I will get here, will help me so much. So far the information gained is very useful. It is wonderful that DUT has so many options that I can choose from.”
