Bio: Professor Rathilal has been an academic in the Department of Chemical Engineering since 1996 and has been involved in all aspects of the department, including teaching, learning, research, curriculum development, community engagement and management. He has served in a number of portfolios throughout his career as a program leader, research coordinator and HoD. He currently serves as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment having assumed this position in May 2020. He has vast experience in teaching and research and has published numerous research and technical papers in various high factor international journals and conferences and was awarded his full professorship in December 2020. Prof Rathilal’s research group includes many multidisciplinary researchers within DUT and external from other academic institutions and he has a good collaborative relation with various local industries. He has supervised a number of Masters and Doctoral students to completion and has several students currently studying towards these higher qualifications. He currently chairs the research focus area called Green Engineering and Sustainability. . Qualification & Institution: PhD (Chemical Engineering) – UKZN .
