About Us

DUT Sport Administration Unit have more than 20 Sport codes which are divided into two, we have our mainline priority codes which can be refer to as Football, Rugby, Athletics, Netball and many more. We also have our recreational sport codes like the Capoeira, Surfing, Table Tennis, that are not so competitive in nature.

Our teams are competing in the University competition know as University Sport South Africa which is the competition amongst all South African Universities. Our rugby men’s team qualified for the Varsity Shield tournament for two years in a row and the ladies football team has been competing in the Varsity Sport competition in over 3 years. Our Netball team was promoted in the B division of the 2022 USSA Netball tournament which means that they will now be playing in the A division and that gives so much recognition to our University and Sport Unit at large merely because the A division is the most recognized division in this Tournament. The A division could also give them a chance to participate in the Varsity Netball.

DUT Sport Administration Unit understands and acknowledge the fact that they are previously disadvantage students who would like to join our sport codes, hence we have kept our affiliation fee at R100 for so many years. Unfortunately, we do not have sport scholarship or bursaries due to the lack of funding. The Unit does hope to secure sponsorships and forge partnerships with stakeholders soon so that sport bursaries can be awarded.
