Fax: 086 674 0672
Email: lazarusi@dut.ac.za
Location: Block A, 2nd Floor
Campus: M L Sultan Campus

Bio: Dr Lazarus completed his under graduate degree at the University of Durban Westville (UDW) majoring in Mathematics and Physics. He then pursued an Honours degree in Physics at the University of Cape Town (UCT), followed by a Master’s degree in Nuclear Physics at UDW. His doctoral degree was completed at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in the field of Plasma Physics, focusing on linear and nonlinear wave phenomena in electron-positron plasmas. He has a Diploma in Wind Energy Use (Sweden) and has completed courses in Advanced Renewable Energy, Advanced Energy Management, Energy Optimization and Measurement and Verification Professional. His research areas are Plasma Physics, Renewable Energy and Physics Education. Dr Lazarus is presently Head of Department of Physics at DUT and he manages DUT’s Energy Technology Station called the “KZN Industrial Energy Efficient Training and Resource Centre”. He supervises masters and doctoral students in Renewable Energy and Plasma Physics.

IMG_7095 Project Manager: Eugene Zeelie
Telephone: 031 373 3723
Fax: 086 674 0672
Email: eugenez@dut.ac.za
Campus: Steve Biko Campus

Bio: Eugene Zeelie is an Industrial Engineer and has joined DUT in July 2015 as a consultant at the KZN Industrial Energy and Training Centre’s Technology Station. Prior experience included 11 years spent working in the UK and Europe. In 2006 he joined the Vaal University of Technology’s Technology Station in Materials and Processing Technologies as Head of Processes. Here he was instrumental in the development of various commercially viable products, incorporating Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) technologies for the use in functional prototyping.

Research and special interests includes the influence of lean based principles on additive manufacturing for future manufacturing industries and the development of alternative energy training and auditing material. Current developments and facilitation includes the development and implementation of Monitoring and Verification material for local training and industry applications. This will contribute to industry energy saving verifications, accurate reporting on energy project savings, energy efficiency and demand management. This is also supported by various DUT IEETR developed training courses, M&V training laboratory and equipment; and specific industry leader co-operations.

Telephone: 031 373 5359
Email: ramkishores@dut.ac.za

Bio: Dr. Singh is postdoctoral researcher in the Department of physics. He holds a master’s degree in physics and doctorate in Energy. Since 2013, he has assisted the department in establishing renewable energy research and testing facilities and doctoral research program. He has also been involved in assessing, designing and testing innovative renewable energy projects and technologies at the TIA funded KZN Industrial Energy Efficient Training and Resource Centre, Durban University of Technology. Before joining DUT, he was associated with The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) in New Delhi between 2009 and 2013. During his association with the TERI he was deputed lecturer at TERI University, where he was involved in the establishment of a new department of Energy and Environment.

He has designed curriculum content for Energy auditing, energy conservation and management, semiconductor physics and building energy for TERI’s MTech program in Renewable energy technologies and management. He has coordinated distance learning renewable energy programs. He has supervised master’s and diploma students on various topics in the area of renewable energy and has lectured in semiconductor physics and photovoltaic system designing, building physics and green buildings at masters level at the TERI University. His current research interests include modelling of solar energy systems, daylighting and energy efficient building designs.
