Bio: Dr. Zwelihle Wiseman Nzuza is a Senior Lecturer and currently serves as the Acting Head of the Department of Management Accounting housed within the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics at the Durban University of Technology. He is teaching financial strategy at the postgraduate diploma level. With over a decade of experience in accounting education, Zwelihle holds a PhD in Management Sciences, with a research focus on accounting research strategy, which was conferred upon him by the Durban University of Technology. Furthermore, he is actively engaged in pursuing his second PhD in Accountancy at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Prior to his role in the Department of Management Accounting, Zwelihle served as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Financial Accounting. He is affiliated with prestigious accounting professional body, namely; the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA). In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Zwelihle is a versatile researcher and serves as a research supervisor for both Master’s and PhD students, contributing significantly to the following academic and scholarly pursuits:

• Management Accounting Strategy
• 4IR in Accounting

Bio: Mrs Bongekile Giqwa is a Departmental Secretary in the department of Management Accounting at the Durban University of Technology Ritson Campus.  She has worked in the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics since 2008 as an Administrative Assistant.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Office Management and Technology.

Bio: Mr S. K Naidoo is a Lecturer in the Department of Management Accounting at the Durban University of Technology, South Africa and an associate member of the Chartered Secretaries Southern Africa (CSSA). Mr Naidoo brings a wealth of knowledge to the department having worked as an administrator at the university and also in industry both in South Africa and New Zealand before joining the department. Mr Naidoo is an experienced academic having lectured first to fourth year subjects. His passion is research and for many years he lectured Research Methodology in the department. He has also published various articles of his own in accredited peer-reviewed journals. He has also lectured in Cost Accounting 1 & 2, Management Accounting 3 and Financial Planning and Control 3.

Research Interest: Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Public Administration and Economics, Education and Chartered Secretary.

Bio: Roshan Nunden is a lecturer in the department of Management Accounting at the Durban University of Technology. In his previous employ was the Management Accountant at GUD Filters. He also has gained much knowledge and experience from two other companies namely: Gilbeys Distillers and Uni-foods (SA). His vast working experiences will play a critical role and nurturing student’s potential and to their lifelong learning needs. He has been working at DUT for the past 17 years. He is currently working on obtaining his PhD Degree.

Bio: Avika Maharaj is a lecturer in the department of Management Accounting at the Durban University of Technology. Her qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Cost and Management Accounting. She is currently engaged in research, which is geared, towards her PhD. She has presented papers on teaching, learning and assessment at various symposiums. She has also presented papers on small business management at international Conferences. A Maharaj has published research articles in DHET accredited international journals.

Bio: Melanie Cloete is a lecturer in the Management Accounting Department at the Durban University of Technology, whose experience in academia spans almost three decades. Her qualifications include a Higher Diploma in Education (Economic Science), Bachelor’s Degree in Technology: Cost and Management Accounting, and a Master of Accounting degree. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her lecturing experience includes Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Management Accounting at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is driven by her passion for teaching and uses innovative teaching methods to empower students with the critical thinking skills required by the fourth industrial revolution. Her publications include articles on critical thinking and assessments in DHET accredited journals and the co-authorship of books titled Cost and Management Accounting: Operations and Management- A Southern African approach (Juta publishers) and Basic Accounting for Non-Accountants (Van Schaik).

Bio: Verna Yearwood is a lecturer in the department of Management Accounting at the Durban University of Technology. Her qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Higher Education from UKZN, Bachelor of Technology in CMA and a HDE: Economic Sciences. Mrs Yearwood is a passionate academic always striving to equip students with the necessary skills to meet the demands of industry. She is currently engaged in research, which is geared, towards her PhD. Working with esteemed colleagues, Mrs Yearwood has jointly published articles in the Financial Management and Research Sectors. She has presented at various conferences on teaching, learning and assessment. She is also engaged in the different pedagogical approaches to encourage critical thinking a lifelong learning. Mrs Yearwood has published research articles in DHET accredited international journals.

Bio: Sharon Zunckel is a Management Accounting lecturer, in the Department of Management Accounting, at the Durban University of Technology. She has been with DUT from 2010, starting with the Department of Financial Accounting and thereafter moving to the Department of Management Accounting. She currently holds a Masters’ Degree in Cost and Management Accounting and is also the programme coordinator for the Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting. Her research focus is finance, costing and teaching & learning (TL), her two published articles in accredited journals have focused on finance. She is passionate about innovative TL and assessment, working to ensure that teaching, learning and assessments are student centred.

Subject Lecturing Specialisation include: Financial Management (undergraduates & postgraduates), Cost and Management Accounting (undergraduates). She is currently involved in the co-supervision of masters’ students within the department.

Bio: Miss Msomi is a Lecturer in the Department of Management Accounting and has more than a decade of experience in Teaching and Learning. She holds a Master of Accounting Degree, specialising in Management Accounting. She is a devoted published scholar. Miss Msomi is actively involved in postgraduate research supervision and also serves on numerous academic and administrative committees within the Institution.

Research interest: Management Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Accounting Education, Financial Management and Environmental Management Accounting.

Bio: Msomi is a Lecturer (Management Accounting) at the Durban University of Technology, South Africa. Msomi is a holder of National Diploma in Accounting, Bachelor’s degree of Technology in Corporate Administration and Master’s degree of Accounting in Cost and Management Accounting obtained at the Durban University of Technology. Currently, Mr Msomi is currently completing his Doctoral degree. Msomi is an accomplished scholarly and A goal-driven researcher with a passion for academic excellence. Msomi have published in multiple papers in DHET accredited peer-reviewed journals and he has presented academic papers at accredited local & international conferences. He has also published some book chapters. Msomi is a renowned scholar who holds the institutional record for the quickest completion of a Master degree. Bio: My name is Daphne Mkhize, born in KwaZulu Natal. I did my undergraduate degree and one postgraduate degree in KwaZulu Natal then relocated in 2010 to Free State (I was offered a job opportunity) until 2022 (January), then went back to KwaZulu Natal (for another job opportunity). During my stay in Free State. I managed to obtain a Masters in Cost and Management Accounting and had a six-month exchange program with Uppsala University in Sweden. The experience was a huge success and an eye opener to huge opportunities that are available for the upcoming youth of our country and beyond. My work experience includes banking (offering financial advice), lecturing (undergraduate and postgraduate) and study leadership for postgraduate students.

Bio: Melissa Naicker is a lecturer at the Department of Management Accounting. She holds a Masters degree in Management Accounting. Her lecturing experience includes Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting and Financial Management subjects. She currently lectures Financial Management and Research. 

Research interest: Economic Value Added (EVA), Value creation, Management Accounting and Financial Management. 

Bio: Bonginkosi Nkosi is Computer Technician for school of Accounting Laboratory (Auditing and Taxation, Financial Accounting and Management Accounting).
