Vision
The division seeks to support the academic endeavor by providing effective student services that enhance the quality of student life.

Students Services comprises of five departments, namely the Student Counselling and the Development Centre (SCDC), Student Life and Development, Student Health and Sports.

 

Student Counselling and Development Centre

The primary purpose of the student counselling and development centre is to provide relevant and appropriate information training, counselling, assessment and consultative services in the interest, wellbeing and development of Durban University of Technology students and staff and prospective students.

To support a governance framework for student activities and to offer opportunities for co curricular learning and engagement, while promoting sound social and leadership skills.

Services:

  • Equip student leadership structures with skills for effective and efficient functioning
  • Promote effective Student Governance
  • Promote accountability and cooperation
  • Coordinate and facilitate student leadership capacity development
  • Serve as a consultative service for students on various developmental issues
  • Initiate and participate in external networks for delivery of the above
