BIOGRAPHY

Mr Thembinkosi Peter Kalanga, working at Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT) as an Academic Development Practitioner (acting), is responsible for Staff Development and Support. He has more than 12 years of experience in higher education, including 4 years as an academic tutor, 3 years as a part-time lecturer, and 8 years as a Teaching & Learning Development Practitioner. He has been actively involved in facilitating and coordinating Student Academic Development programmes in the Midlands, and has attended and presented at national and international conferences. In 2026 June, he participated in a BRICS conference in Brazil and achieved a “Best Paper in Session: PhD” and “Second Runner UP: PhD” certificates. For his PhD studies, he travelled to Germany in 2025 through an exchange programme, where he strengthened his research and scholarly knowledge in academic writing and publishing. Mr Thembinkosi Kalanga is also responsible for the faculties of Accounting & Informatics, Arts & Design, Engineering & Built Environment, Health Sciences, and Management Sciences at the Midlands Campus. In October 2026, he started working as an acting Academic Development Practitioner in the Midlands, responsible for support in Staff Development (CASD).  Mr Kalanga holds a Master of Management Sciences in Business Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education, as well as numerous undergraduate qualifications. He is currently a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration at the Durban University of Technology. His research focus areas are: (i) Entrepreneurship, (ii) Higher Education, and (iii) Sustainable Development.
