Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)“Recognition of prior learning means the comparison of the previous learning and experience of a learner howsoever obtained against the learning outcomes required for a specified qualification, and the acceptance for purposes of qualification of that which meets the requirements” This is a complex process that requires the students to present their learning within a portfolio and staff/departments to be able to assess these portfolios against the outcomes of programmes for which RPL is being applied. As a result, the RPL programme within CELT involves supporting both staff and students in the RPL application and evaluation.
