BIOGRAPHY

Shubnam Rambharos works as a Teaching and Learning Development Practitioner (TLDP) in the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.  Although her primary focus is Student Development, she also works across various aspects of  Academic Development involving staff and  curriculum development.

She is involved in New Academic Staff Induction, staff development for multimodal teaching and learning, and is co-chair of DUT’s Learning and  Teaching Imbizo.

Her responsibilities as TLDP in the Faculties of Accounting and Informatics; and Engineering and the Built Environment involves co-ordinating and facilitating:

  • the First Year Student Experience (FYSE),
  • Senior Year Student Experience (SYSE),
  • Academic Advising,
  • the Tutorship programme
  • Design Thinking
  • and Project Based Learning

Shubnam is interested in critically reflective pedagogical practice that enhances learning, teaching and assessment through the design of innovative, flexible, integrated and authentic learning activities. As such she is one of the project leaders of the Siyaphumelela Hambisa (Moving forward) Project which  focuses on data informed practices that enhance student success and engagement. Her research interests lie in critically reflective autobiographical narrative inquiry and arts based methodologies which she integrates into her practice.
