Bio: Professor Veena Rawjee is an Associate Professor and HOD in the Department of Public Relations and Communication. She holds a PhD in Media, Culture and Communication and has been in academia for more than 26 years. She has acted as Executive Dean and has also served as Deputy Dean for several years in the Faculty of Management Sciences. Her research focus areas include communication planning and management, strategic integrated communication, media representation and teaching learning and assessment.

I started my career as a high School Economics and Business Studies teacher and that is where I fell in love with teaching. I passionately do this and I want to see our students benefiting and realising their potential. Currently I have 6 publications. Area of expertise or Research and Innovation Areas: Social media, Advertising, customer relationship management and brand management.

Bio:Dr. Adedamola Temitope Akinlade is a lecturer at the Department of Public Relations and Communication at Durban University of Technology (DUT), obtained a PhD in Culture, Communication and Media Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and Master in Communication Art at the University of Ibadan (UI), with teaching experience at UKZN. Had years of industry experience in a number of corporate sectors; worked on both agencies and clients’ sides, where he handled a handful of multinational brands; was in charge of media relations, brand management, public relations and advertising accounts. A member of relevant professional bodies. He is currently researching, and with publications. Areas of interests are social media, media studies, public relations, advertising, strategic and corporate communication, brand and marketing communication, reputation management, social change, participatory communication, health communication, corporate social responsibility, and consumer behaviour.

Bio:Ms Nisha Ramlutchman is a Lecturer in Public Relations Management. She received her Bachelor of Arts (summa cum laude) and Honours degrees from the University of Natal. She completed her Master of Arts qualification (Cum Laude) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is currently studying towards a PhD in Media and Communication at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She has supervised several Masters and one PhD student. She has published in local and international journals and has presented papers at both national and international conferences. She has served as the Faculty of Management Sciences E-Learning Representative since 2012. Her research interests are in film studies, media representation and intercultural communication.

Bio:Ms Zakia Jeewa is a lecturer in the Department of Public Relations Management at DUT. Her research interests include Digital and new media, fandom studies and content relating to active audiences. She completed her Master’s thesis at UKZN which focused on Social Media, Fandom, Online Communities and Role Play. She has previously worked as a journalist and is currently pursuing her PhD.

Bio:Mr Obed Chauke is a Lecturer at the department of Public Relations Management and holds a Master’s degree in Management Sciences (Marketing) from the Durban University of Technology. He is a creative and strategic individual with a strong background in quantitative research, project management, team leadership and professional presenting. His research interests includes Communication in Leadership, Green Marketing, Innovative Marketing and Entrepreneurship. His research output has an international footprint. He is currently serving as an Enactus alumnus at the Enactus DUT branch, and teaching students the basics of entrepreneurship.
