Welcome to the Department of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying

Back to Faculty Page

The construction industry is a global one and offers the opportunity to work anywhere in the world. In the next two decades, construction in South Africa is expected to be in full swing to provide houses and infrastructure for its growing population. In South Africa, the ratio of managers to workers is one of the highest in the world. This means that future prospects are excellent despite the reality of the cyclical and fluctuating nature of personnel hire in the construction industry.

The Department of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying offers programmes which aim to produce graduates with the management skills and technical knowledge required for a diverse and complex industry. It is also a route to obtaining professional registration. Opportunities exist for successful candidates to pursue postgraduate studies leading to a Masters and a Doctoral degree in the Built Environment. The Department boasts a complement of highly qualified and competent academic and support staff.
