BIOGRAPHY
Mzuvele Yeni is an Accounting and Finance professional with extensive experience in financial management, auditing, taxation, financial reporting, management accounting, monitoring and evaluation, and project management. He currently serves as UCDP Manager at Durban University of Technology (DUT), where he contributes to the financial management, monitoring, reporting and implementation of projects within the University Capacity Development Programme (UCDP).
He brings a strong combination of technical accounting expertise, financial management experience and monitoring and evaluation knowledge, supported by professional training through the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). His professional experience includes working across higher education, public sector, auditing, finance and development-focused environments.

Current Role
As UCDP Manager at Durban University of Technology, Mzuvele is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of UCDP grants, projects, activities and financial accounts. He also prepares financial and narrative reports for senior university management, government stakeholders and auditors.
His portfolio includes reporting and oversight relating to various higher education development initiatives and grants, including the University Capacity Development Grant (UCDG), New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), Nurturing of Emerging Scholars Programme (NESP), Extended Curriculum Programme/Foundation Provision Grant (ECP), University Capacity Development Programme Doctoral Communities of Scholarship (UCDP DCoS), University Staff Doctoral Programme (USDP), University Capacity Development Programme National Collaboration Project: Unfurling Post School Education and Training Grant (UCDP NCP UPSET), University Capacity Development Programme for the implementation of the Academic Advising National Collaborative Project (with the University of Free State) (UCDP AANCP), Future Professors Programme (FPP), and other initiatives falling within the Staffing South Africa’s Universities’ Framework (SSAUF).
Professional Experience
Prior to his current role, Mzuvele served as UCDP Finance Management Coordinator at Durban University of Technology, where he supported financial management, reporting and programme administration.
He previously completed the SAICA Training Programme at Ngubane & Co., gaining extensive experience in external and internal auditing, accounting, taxation, financial statement preparation, internal control evaluation, risk assessment and financial analysis. During his training, he worked with a diverse range of organisations across the public and private sectors.
His earlier experience includes positions as Finance Officer at Wushwini Pan African Centre for Arts, Culture and Heritage and Finance Officer at Umsindo Theatre Projects.
Professional Membership
Mzuvele is affiliated with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and has completed professional training aligned with the SAICA competency framework.
Technical Skills
He has advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, as well as experience with a range of financial, accounting and enterprise systems, including SAP, ITS, Oracle JD Edwards, Pastel, Caseware and Teammate.
