CURRICULUM AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

The practices of academic staff in the development and enactment of curricula are important contributors to the realisation of ENVISION2030. Programmes within this unit are designed to nurture a people-centred culture that values students’ and staff’s lived values. Our programmes also aim to spark creativity, innovation and innovative curriculum development which shapes adaptive graduates. The programmes in the unit cultivate research-informed higher education praxis which advance teaching, learning and research. Through the provision of continued staff development, the unit contributes to a future-oriented institution.

Our approach is grounded in lived values and the African philosophical approach of Ubuntu which furthers relationality, co-creation of knowledge, partnerships and a recognition of multiple knowledges, methodologies and theoretical perspectives.

The unit furthers research through post-graduate studies in higher education, as well as by advancing scholarship in academic staff development through research projects, journal publications and books.

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Curriculum development’s main goal is to engage with the program and unit teams by providing curriculum development support. Develop additional diagnostic systems in collaboration with other central services and faculty to inform curriculum planning and practices. To provide assistance to program teams in the development and review of programs.
